The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Dakshinbanga, has launched a special helpline network spanning multiple districts and city units across West Bengal, aimed at strengthening communication and collaboration between the student body and its verified representatives. The initiative was announced via an official press release dated 7 May 2026, published by Pradesh Office Secretary Chinmay Biswas.
The announcement comes in the wake of the recent West Bengal Legislative Assembly election results, which ABVP has welcomed as a mandate for a fear-free, democratic, and nationalist environment in the state. The organisation expressed hope that this political change would positively shape the atmosphere within educational institutions, fostering a climate where students can voice their opinions freely and without intimidation.
ABVP flagged a growing concern: certain individuals have been introducing themselves as ABVP workers or representatives in campuses and society, creating confusion and disorder, actions the organisation categorically disowned. The press release reaffirmed ABVP’s foundational commitment to democratic values, student welfare, and a positive, violence-free educational environment, stating that the organisation has no connection to any unethical, disruptive, or unlawful activity. Due to a prolonged culture of fear and intimidation in West Bengal, many students with nationalist and student-welfare-oriented ideals had long remained unable to openly associate with nationalist student movements, according to the statement.
To bridge this gap, district and city-unit-level helplines have been activated so that students can directly connect with authorised functionaries, obtain information about the organisation, and seek assistance when needed. In addition, a central state-level helpline has been established to serve as a single point of contact for students seeking guidance from approved representatives.
Addressing the development, ABVP National General Secretary Dr. Birendra Singh Solanki stated that the organisation has long worked for the holistic nationalist development of students in educational institutions. He called the creation of confusion using the organisation’s name deeply regrettable and urged students and citizens alike to engage only through official ABVP channels and verified functionaries. He reaffirmed the body’s unwavering commitment to student welfare, academic dignity, and the strengthening of positive student leadership across West Bengal.
