After scattered showers soaked Kolkata and several parts of South Bengal earlier this week, the weather pattern is expected to remain largely unchanged on Wednesday. According to the latest update from the Alipore Meteorological Department, the city and many districts in South Bengal are likely to witness a generally cloudy sky along with spells of light to moderate rain.
North Bengal is also expected to receive rainfall, although the intensity is likely to be lower than what the region experienced over the past few days.

The Alipore Meteorological Department has forecast a predominantly cloudy sky over Kolkata on Wednesday. Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms may occur at isolated places during the day.

On Tuesday, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 30.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 27.2 degrees Celsius. For Wednesday, the maximum temperature is expected to remain around 31 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is likely to hover near 27 degrees Celsius.

Humidity levels are expected to stay above 90 per cent, which could make weather conditions feel more uncomfortable despite the rainfall.
Rain forecast for South Bengal
The weather office has predicted scattered light to moderate rain across all districts of South Bengal on Wednesday.
Isolated heavy rainfall between 7 cm and 11 cm is likely in Birbhum, Nadia, Murshidabad, North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas, accompanied by thunderstorms.
From Thursday onward, both the coverage and intensity of rainfall are expected to increase.

Heavy rain is likely over East Midnapore, West Midnapore, Bankura and Jhargram on Thursday and Friday. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rainfall across all districts of South Bengal until Friday.
North Bengal weather update
All districts of North Bengal are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall over the next few days.

Rainfall is likely in Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar, although the weather office has not forecast heavy rain in any of these districts.
Meanwhile, a yellow alert for rainfall remains in effect for Uttar Dinajpur, Dakshin Dinajpur and Malda until Thursday.
