What exactly happened in Jordan?
The statement did not identify the fallen service members or provide further details about the unit, location, or the circumstances of the attack.
CENTCOM said it would withhold additional information, including the identities of the dead, until 24 hours after next of kin have been notified.

The waiting game begins
The deaths come against the backdrop of an intensifying exchange between the United States and Iran across the region.
Iran launched more attacks on Washington’s Gulf allies and Jordan on Saturday after a seventh straight night of US strikes on Iranian military targets.
Kuwait said a power and desalination station and an oil facility had been hit. Iranian state media claimed strikes on a US military support center at Camp Arifjan and a radar facility at Ali Al Salem Air Base.
Some of those Iranian claims could not be independently verified at the time of publication.

Beyond Jordan, the stakes keep rising
The US military had completed its seventh consecutive day of strikes by hitting Iranian surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage, and maritime capabilities.
The broader confrontation has widened the risk to US forces and regional partners, even as both sides continue to trade strikes and counterstrikes across multiple theaters.
CENTCOM’s latest statement did not say when more details on the dead and missing service member would be released.
