President Donald Trump said Iran would “pay many times over” after the deaths of American troops, escalating the rhetoric around the widening US-Iran conflict.

Trump made the warning on Truth Social after two American personnel were killed in an Iranian attack in Jordan. A third US death was later reported in Iraq during a controlled detonation on a downed Iranian drone.

17 US service members had been confirmed dead since the conflict began, with one more case under assessment, while around 430 American troops have been injured.

The White House also said Trump would attend dignified transfer ceremonies at Dover Air Force Base for the fallen service members.
