Bhooth Bangla crosses ₹200 crore worldwide, beats Stree and Thamma at box office

Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan’s horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla has crossed the ₹200 crore mark at the worldwide box office, achieving the milestone on its 13th day in theatres. The film has maintained a strong run since its release and continues to attract audiences in its second week, making it one of the biggest Hindi hits of the year so far.

The film was released on April 17, with paid previews beginning a day earlier. It opened on a solid note and benefited from positive audience response during its first weekend. According to the report, Bhooth Bangla collected ₹58 crore net in India during its opening weekend, setting the pace for a successful theatrical run.

Steady run in India

After a strong start, the film continued to perform consistently on weekdays and then gained momentum again in the second weekend. On day 13, Bhooth Bangla added ₹3.50 crore net in India.

This took its total India net collection to ₹124.50 crore. Its India gross total has reached ₹147.90 crore, showing that the film has managed to remain stable despite competition and the usual weekday slowdown.

The steady domestic numbers are being seen as a major positive sign, especially for a comedy-horror film, a genre that has recently delivered several successful titles in Hindi cinema.

Overseas collections lift worldwide total

The film has also found support in international markets. While its overseas opening was moderate, collections improved quickly over the first weekend. The report stated that Bhooth Bangla earned close to $1 million across days two and three overseas.

By day 13, the film’s international gross had reached $5.6 million. Combined with its India gross collections, Bhooth Bangla’s worldwide total has now crossed ₹200 crore.

Though overseas growth has slowed in recent days, the report added that the film is still expected to finish with more than $6 million internationally before the end of its theatrical run.

Surpasses several horror-comedy hits

With ₹200 crore worldwide, Bhooth Bangla has now become the fourth-highest-grossing horror-comedy in Bollywood.

The film has gone past the lifetime collections of several successful titles from the genre. It has overtaken Thamma, which earned ₹171 crore globally, and Stree, which had collected ₹180 crore worldwide.

Earlier during its run, Bhooth Bangla had already crossed the lifetime earnings of films such as Bhediya and Munjya, further strengthening its box office position.

Only three films ahead now

Among Hindi horror-comedies, Bhooth Bangla now trails only three films in worldwide earnings, Stree 2, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.

Its final ranking will depend on how it performs over the coming days, especially during its third weekend. If the film continues to hold well, it may narrow the gap with the films above it.

Akshay Kumar-Priyadarshan reunion works

Bhooth Bangla also marks the reunion of Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan, a duo known for several popular entertainers in the past. Their collaboration appears to have connected with viewers once again.

The blend of horror, comedy and familiar star power has helped the film maintain momentum both in India and overseas. With the ₹200 crore milestone already secured, attention will now shift to whether Bhooth Bangla can push toward the ₹250 crore or even ₹300 crore worldwide mark before ending its theatrical run.
