Hundreds of women gathered at registration camps across the capital from early morning, and by noon, 1,083 applications had already been completed. The scheme promises eligible women monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,500 and is expected to benefit nearly 17 lakh residents across Delhi.

Officials said registration centres were established across the city to help applicants verify eligibility, upload documents, and complete the online application process.

Delhi Lakshmi Yojana registration begins across the capital

The launch of the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana drew a strong response, with women queuing outside registration camps from 8 am. Volunteers and government officials assisted applicants in filling out forms, verifying Aadhaar and bank details, and uploading supporting documents.

Officials said each registration initially took about 25 to 30 minutes, although some applicants required up to 45 minutes due to document verification. Authorities expect processing time to reduce as staff become more familiar with the portal and applicants arrive with complete paperwork.

Many women welcomed the rollout of the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, saying the monthly financial support would help them manage household expenses and improve financial security.

Financial assistance and payment options explained

Under the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, eligible beneficiaries will receive Rs 2,500 every month. The Delhi government has introduced multiple payment options to encourage savings alongside financial assistance.

Women can choose to receive Rs 1,000 through a digital rupee wallet while depositing Rs 1,500 into a recurring or fixed deposit account. Alternatively, beneficiaries may opt to invest the full Rs 2,500 in a recurring or fixed deposit.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the government has allocated over Rs 5,100 crore for the scheme during the 2026-27 financial year. She added that the first instalment is expected to be released around Raksha Bandhan after applications are verified and approved.

Who can apply for Delhi Lakshmi Yojana?

The Delhi Lakshmi Yojana is open to women aged between 21 and 60 years who are the eldest female member of their family. Applicants must be registered voters in Delhi, have an annual family income below Rs 2.5 lakh, and satisfy the prescribed residency requirements.

The scheme excludes income tax payers, GST filers, government employees, recipients of certain government pensions, and households owning four-wheelers. Families consuming more than 2,400 units of electricity annually are also ineligible.

Applicants are required to upload Aadhaar, voter ID, residence proof, photographs, signatures, and an endorsement letter from their local MP or MLA while completing the registration process.

With registrations now underway, the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana marks one of the Delhi government’s biggest welfare initiatives aimed at strengthening women’s financial independence while promoting long-term household savings.
