A girl booked for allegedly making abusive remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi (PM Modi) during the July 23 protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar has apologised in a video that has gone viral on social media.
In the video, she says she was influenced by others at the protest and describes the incident as her “first and last mistake.” However, while the FIR identifies her as 25 years old, she claims in the apology video that she is 15 years old. The authenticity of the video has not been independently verified.
What does the apology video show?
In the viral clip, the girl expresses regret over her remarks and apologises to the country, saying she is ashamed of her actions and asking for forgiveness.

The case stems from a complaint filed at a Noida police station over her alleged remarks during the Jantar Mantar protest. Based on the complaint, Noida Police registered a Zero FIR before transferring the matter to the Parliament Street Police Station in New Delhi, where further investigation is underway.
The discrepancy between the age mentioned in the FIR and the age claimed in the video has also drawn attention, although authorities have not commented on the issue.
How have political leaders reacted?
The apology comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed for compassion towards the students involved in the controversy.

In a video message, the Prime Minister said the language used during the protest had no place in a civilised society but urged people to forgive the “misguided children” instead of seeking retribution. He said young people should be shown the right path rather than be subjected to prolonged legal action.
The Congress, meanwhile, criticised Modi’s remarks. Congress Rajya Sabha MP Pawan Khera said people were expecting an apology from the Prime Minister, but instead he had chosen to “forgive the country.”
Police are yet to announce any further action in the case.
