Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated several Indian athletes after another successful day at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Neeraj Chopra earns silver, Yash Vir Singh takes bronze
One of the most anticipated events for Indian fans was the men’s javelin throw final, where Neeraj Chopra, Yash Vir Singh and Rohit Yadav represented the country. Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Pathirage claimed the gold medal with a best throw of 89.75m. Neeraj finished second with an effort of 85.83m, while Yash Vir secured bronze after recording 85.41m.

The silver medal marked Neeraj’s second Commonwealth Games medal after his historic gold at the 2018 Gold Coast Games. It also came after a period in which the Olympic champion had dealt with injury concerns, making his return to the podium a significant milestone.

Yamini Maurya receives praise after judo silver
India also celebrated success in judo, with Yamini Maurya winning the silver medal in the women’s 57kg category.

Tejaswin Shankar applauded for decathlon bronze
Tejaswin Shankar also received appreciation from the Prime Minister after winning bronze in the men’s decathlon. The medal came after Shankar was forced to withdraw from the high jump competition because of a knee injury, making his comeback in the decathlon one of India’s standout performances at the Games.
