IMD sounds rain alert for Kolkata, Bengaluru; Maharashtra braces for more heatwave days

The Southwest Monsoon continued its steady progress across the country on June 14, bringing rainfall alerts for several regions even as parts of Maharashtra remain under a heatwave warning.

As rainfall activity increases, the weather agency has placed Rajasthan and Odisha under an orange alert for heavy rain on Saturday.

Heatwave warning for Maharashtra

Even as monsoon showers spread across many regions, parts of Maharashtra are expected to face intense heat. The IMD has warned of heatwave conditions in isolated pockets of Marathawada, Vidarbha and Madhya Maharashtra on June 14 and 15.

Hot and humid weather is also likely over Odisha on Saturday, while similar conditions may persist in Konkan and Goa until June 16 and in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam until June 15.
