The state secured second place in economy and fiscal stability, fourth in infrastructure, sixth in education, and seventh in crime and corrections. The results highlight Utah’s robust economic growth, sound fiscal management, strong educational outcomes, and relatively safe environment. Although Utah ranked lower in opportunity (24th), health care (18th), and the natural environment (48th), its high scores in more heavily weighted categories were enough to secure the top overall position.

States at the bottom of the rankings
At the opposite end of the rankings, Louisiana placed 50th overall. The state ranked 50th in crime and corrections, 49th in both the economy and the natural environment, 46th in education and infrastructure, and 45th in health care and opportunity. Other states near the bottom included Alaska, Mississippi, New Mexico, Michigan, and Arkansas, reflecting weaker performances across several key indicators.
