Ayodhya’s Ram Temple just got a high-tech makeover, putting the entire donation process under the digital microscope.

Starting July 25, the entire donation chain is under continuous video surveillance. The monitoring is being aided by 360-degree cameras with CCTV tracking the process.

The trust has also deployed two professional videographers to record the handling of each donation box, as the temple administration tries to tighten oversight and restore confidence in the system.

Every offering now leaves a trail

The new system was introduced after allegations of donation theft triggered a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe.

Several people have been arrested in connection with the case. The wider investigation is still going.

The trust’s aim is to ensure that every stage of the process can be tracked, from the movement of empty boxes to their return after collection and sealing.

The message from the administration is clear: the temple wants a donation trail that is visible, recorded, and easier to verify later.

The trust has also changed the opening procedure for donation boxes. Instead of opening several boxes together, around 40 donation boxes are now opened separately.

A watchful squad of eight is making sure every rupee is accounted for.

The team includes a duo from the bank, two trust representatives, a pair of private security personnel, and other designated staff. State Bank of India officials seal the boxes inside the counting room before the cash is processed further.

The result is a much tighter chain of custody around temple offerings, with multiple layers of observation built into the counting room itself.
