Indian players are making the most of their county cricket assignments in England, with Kuldeep Yadav and Ashutosh Sharma delivering match-winning performances in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup. Kuldeep continued his impressive run for Yorkshire by dismissing former England Test captain Ben Stokes, while Ashutosh starred with his maiden five-wicket haul in List A cricket for Hampshire.

Kuldeep continues impressive County cricket run

Kuldeep continued his fine form for Yorkshire with another disciplined spell against Durham. The left-arm wrist-spinner finished with figures of 2/23 from his 10 overs, dismissing both Ben Stokes and Colin Ackermann as Durham were bowled out for 165 in 48.1 overs.

The highlight of Kuldeep’s spell was the dismissal of Stokes. The England captain attempted a reverse sweep but failed to control the shot, handing a simple catch to George Hill. Kuldeep’s accuracy and variations kept the Durham batters under pressure throughout the innings.

Yorkshire chased down the target comfortably in 41 overs. James Wharton and Sam Whiteman remained unbeaten with half-centuries to seal the victory. Kuldeep has now picked up two wickets in each of his four Metro Bank One-Day Cup appearances, underlining the consistency of his county stint.

Ashutosh claims maiden five wicket haul in County cricket

Meanwhile, Ashutosh Sharma enjoyed a memorable outing for Hampshire against Essex. Better known for his aggressive batting in Indian domestic cricket and the IPL, the all-rounder stole the show with the ball, returning figures of 5/51—his maiden five-wicket haul in List A cricket.

Ashutosh struck at regular intervals to stop Essex from building big partnerships, helping restrict them to 317 in 49 overs despite a competitive total.

Hampshire completed the chase with three wickets to spare, thanks to crucial half-centuries from James Fuller, Nick Gubbins and Tom Prest.

The performances of Kuldeep and Ashutosh once again highlighted the value of county cricket for Indian players. Regular exposure to English conditions and quality opposition provides ideal preparation ahead of international assignments, while also allowing players to expand their skills in different match situations.
